Salvation Army Shield The Salvation Army

Godly play is a method of storytelling and wondering that enables children and adults to find and hear God's voice. Sand, wooden figures, felt and gold boxes might seem unlikely materials for spiritual accompaniment but along with space and silence these are the tools of Godly Play.

Godly Play stories consist of Old Testament stories, Parables and Presentations that help children recognise and engage with their denominational traditions. In the spring of 2013 Dr Rebecca Nye, a researcher in children's spirituality, who introduced Godly Play to the UK in the 1990s, suggested that we might begin a process to write our own stories about SA practice.

During the congress there is an opportunity for delegates to participate in a Godly Play session with one of the newly developed Salvation Army stories.

There will be sessions in the IZONE (Boundless Kids marquee) at 2pm on July 2nd, 3rd and 4th. You will be able to sign up for these sessions at the Boundless Kids information stand just outside of the Boundless Kids marquee (Booth 5), please note that sign up will be on a first come first served basis, so don't miss out!
